The History of the Internet

Let's begin with understanding the Web. Before we do so, we need to understand what encompasses the WWW- yes, it is the Internet. You will be surprised to know that Internet existed long before World Wide Web did. Internet simply put, is an interconnection of several computers that are able to work together to facilitate data exchange.

World Wide Web on the other hand, is a collection of interconnected documents hosted on these interconnected computers that can be accessed via the Internet. That means, when you go online and browse something, you end up hooking up your computer to the large interconnection of computers. Let's look at the following video to understand more on the history of the Internet.

  2. The web has offered a new kindof business model called the Web based businesses. I believe that the success or failure of any business is in its strong value proposition and not the channel through which the business is delivered. The channel only offers the reach. The value proposition is a matter of abstractness of technology behind the solution. The unique it is, the better. Also, marketing plays a key role. Sometimes, entry barriers can be less. You got to leverage your marketing skills to gain traction and spread the word out to gain market share. This thought was shared by John Fearon, the CEO of Dropmyemail, a Singapore based email and web backup solution startup in my recent interview with him.
